The City of Hazelwood's 12th Annual Recycle Day will be held on June 10, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the parking lot of Village Square Shopping Center off of Dunn Road in Hazelwood. Hazelwood residents are invited to get rid of unwanted electronics, vehicle parts, and documents and bring them to the event. The event is open to the public and set up as a drive thru/drop off event. Admission is free, but some vendors charge a small fee for certain items.
The City is partnering with Republic Services, Citishred, Barry's Auto World, and Spectrum Ecycle for the 2023 event. Funding for this project is being provided through a grant from the St. Louis-Jefferson Solid Waste Management District and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, and by a grant from St. Louis County Department of Public Health utilizing County landfill surcharge funds.
Spectrum Ecycle will be accepting electronic items for recycling, and most items are free to recycle. They will accept anything with a plug or batteries. Rechargeable batteries may be recycled, but no regular batteries or gas powered appliances will be accepted. St. Louis County residents may recycle two flat screen TVs/monitors OR one tube style TV for no charge as funding allows. For non-St. Louis County residents or for additional items, flat screen monitors and TVs will have a $10 fee. Tube and big screen TVs will have a $30 fee.
Local Hazelwood business Auto World will accept car and motorcycle batteries, metal vehicle parts, waste oil, scrap metal, and antifreeze. They will take tires for a fee of $3 per car tire or $5 per larger tire.
Citishred will accept up to two boxes of document shredding per car. Participants may leave staples in the paper but will need to remove any binder clips from the shredding.
Republic Services will be providing dumpsters for discarding single-stream recycling materials.
