Holiday Pick-Up Schedule

Here's a brief explanation to help clear up any confusion you might have about Allied's trash pick-up schedule around the six (6) legal holidays of the year, which include the following: New Year's Day (January 1); Memorial Day (last Monday of May); Independence Day (July 4); Labor Day (first Monday of September); Thanksgiving (fourth Thursday of November); and Christmas Day (December 25).

If any of these holidays fall on a weekday between Monday and Friday, Allied will follow its regular trash and recycling collection schedule on all the days leading up to the holiday. A holiday trash pick-up schedule would be in effect for that day and all days following the holiday until the week ends.  For example, next year, July 4, 2011, will fall on a Monday; therefore, Monday's trash pick-up schedule would roll over to Tuesday, Tuesday's to Wednesday; Wednesday's to Thursday, Thursday's to Friday, and Friday's to Saturday.  The following week would revert back to the regular schedule for trash collection service.

If the holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday during the weekend, the trash pick-up schedule remains the same for both the week before and the week after. No holiday trash pick-up schedule takes effect.

If you have any questions or issues regarding your trash/recycling waste collection service with Allied Services, please call Customer Service at (636) 947-5959.

Recycling Pick-Up Date Changes

On August 3, 2009, Allied changed the weekly recycling pick-up dates for many Hazelwood residents.  This news was communicated to them through monthly statement stuffers and mailers in order to give everyone two weeks advance notice.

In an effort to make adjustments and provide better service to Hazelwood residents, Allied expanded its recycling pick-up schedule to five days a week. Rather than running four or more trucks one day a week, the company is using one truck five days per week.  In addition, the same driver is assigned to this truck Monday through Friday in order for him to become more familiar with the City.

Benefits of using this format:

  • Having a recycling truck in Hazelwood every day would enable Allied to handle any rollovers (misses) much faster
  • Cutting the number of trucks running through the City would lessen the wear and tear on local streets
  • Allows room for continual growth of Hazelwood's recycling program.

For missed service and other issues, please contact Allied's Customer Service at (636) 947-5959.

Hazelwood's Recycling Program

In 2008, the City of Hazelwood negotiated a contract with Allied Services to provide a 65-gallon recycling cart to every one- and two-family residence in our community free of charge. Most of these carts were delivered last fall.  This has made it easier for people to be more green-friendly and separate recycling items from their regular trash.

Hazelwood residents are now gung-ho about recycling as evident by the fact that Allied collected 120.83 tons of recyclables in December 2009, an increase of 32.45 tons over the amount for December 2008.  This figure tops the previous record-breaking total of 96.97 tons in October 2008.
