Hazelwood Wins Best Themed Float Award in Valley of Flowers Parade
The City of Hazelwood's float entry in the 2010 Valley of Flowers Parade won the "Best Themed Float" award. Its design was based on the theme of "Hazelwood Presents: Mysterious Landmarks of the World."
Credit for the design and construction goes to Larry Epifanio, Hazelwood's Head Custodian. A special thanks goes to Kate Lobstein, GIS Analyst, for creating the photos and other artwork, as well as City Clerk Colleen Klos for providing the golf shirts for the City Council members to wear.
The Valley of Flowers Festival has been celebrated every year since 1963 making this its 48th "First Festival of Spring." The Festival Parade theme for 2010 was "Florissant Salutes Landmarks of the World."
The grand parade was held on Sunday, May 9, and the float awards were presented prior to the crowning of the Valley of Flowers Queen and her Court at the Knights of Columbus Pavilion in Florissant.
