Hazelwood Fire Department
Unveils New Addition

When the fire alarm goes off at Fire Station #2 in December, Hazelwood firefighters will be boarding a new fire truck that was just delivered a few days ago.  This new 4125 vehicle was built by the Smeal factory in Nebraska.

NewFireTruckPhoto-smallIt will replace the department's oldest truck, which was the first Smeal truck purchased by the HFD 16 years ago.  The dimensions of the 4125 are as follows: 44 feet, 8 inches long; stands 11 feet, 5 inches tall; and weighs 75,000 pounds.  New state-of-the-art electronics are featured in the overall operation of the truck for driving, pumping and aerial coverage.

Extensive training is underway for all firefighters.  Although the concepts of using advanced aerial apparatus have been in the skill set of HFD firefighters for many years, the knowledge of all the technical details must now be added. Hoses and equipment will be loaded and strategically placed on the truck before it goes into full service in December.

Hazelwood Fire Department: Serving our community with pride!
