Hazelwood Parks & Recreation Offers
Fitness Programs to Launch New Year

The Hazelwood Parks and Recreation Division is making it easier for you to keep your New Year's resolutions of losing weight and staying fit in 2011. Two new programs, TRX Training and Butts & Gutts, are being offered at the Hazelwood Community Center in January and February.

TRX TRAINING

Both residents and non-residents are eligible to sign-up for this 8-week course.  The fees are $69 for residents and $74 for non-residents. Classes will be held on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. between Jan. 22 and Mar. 12. Developed by a U.S. Navy Seal, TRX Training is a revolutionary system that will introduce participants to body weight suspension training. This form of fitness exercise is gaining international recognition and is widely used by professional sports athletes and top-notch trainers around the globe. It allows individuals to leverage their own bodyweight and gravity to develop strength, balance, flexibility, and joint stability simultaneously. The class will be taught by a certified TRX instructor from One on One Fitness Training.

BUTTS & GUTTS

Keep your day going full tilt by heading to the gym.  Butts & Gutts is a 12-session course held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at the Hazelwood Community Center. The first class runs from Feb. 1 to Mar. 10 followed by another class from Mar. 22. to April 28.  The fees are $60 for residents and $65 for non-residents.  These work-outs concentrate on eliminating the following problem areas: glutes; thighs; hips; and abdominal muscles. Examples of exercises performed for this course are lunges, crunches, butt blasters, planks and prone leg raises. This class will be taught by a certified group instructor from One on One Fitness Training.
