The Community Enrichment Commission hosted its 16th Annual Community Art Fair on Sat., June 1, at the Hazelwood Community Center. This event enabled 34 artists from all parts of the St. Louis area to showcase their creative talents to the public.
The artists were age 16 and over and displayed their paintings and drawings done in watercolor, acrylic, charcoal, pastels, pencil or mixed media. No sculptures, photos or computer generated media were allowed.
Participants entered up to six art pieces in a contest featuring four categories: Landscape/Still Life; Portraits/Real Life; Fantasy/Science Fiction; and Abstract/Non-Objective. Two art directors, Cassie Thomas and Doug Kirk, professionally judged the entries and selected the winners and honorable mentions. Cash prizes, along with 1st-, 2nd- and 3rd-place ribbons, were awarded to the following top finishers in each category.
