City of Hazelwood Hosts 17th Annual Tribute to Dr. MLK, Jr.

Hazelwood’s Community Enrichment Commission hosted its 17th Annual Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., at Civic Center East on Sunday.  The program featured these inspiring participants: Brice Anderson, a 4th grade student at Blossomwood Day School, who is the 3rd-5th Grade Finalist of the North County Churches United for Racial Harmony and Justice – Dr. King Oratory Contest; The Gentlemen of Vision Step Team from Riverview Gardens High School who have won 10 National Step Championships including Stomp Wars, Disney Step Classic, Youth Step USA and the National Step Show Alliance; and Reverend David Graham, a Hazelwood resident, also known as America’s Clean Comedian who has made appearances on Comedy Central and NBC-TV’s Last Comic Standing.  Graham has also earned the title of the #1 Lionel Richie Tribute Singer in America by “Perfect Impressions Entertainment.”  The program ended with a traditional candlelighting ceremony to honor Dr. King and his legacy.  The audience sang “We Shall Overcome” while they lit each other’s candle throughout the room.
