The 2018 Fourth of July fireworks show presented by the City of Hazelwood should be the biggest and best one yet. Hazelwood is going with another company, ARC Pyrotechnics, that promises to put 33% more total product in the sky. This year’s pyromusical show in Hazelwood is scheduled for Wed., July 4, in White Birch Park, 1186 Teson Road, starting around 9 a.m.
“The decision to choose our fireworks provider this year was a difficult one. It came down to choosing either ARC Pyrotechnics or J&M Displays, Inc., which has done a fantastic job providing our fireworks show for the past seven years. We selected ARC because we’re getting more bang for the bucks we’re spending,” Hazelwood Parks & Recreation Superintendent Doug Littlefield said.
ARC plans to use 6,010 rocket shells in its pyromusical show. It will nearly double the amount of 3″ and 4″ shells which usually generate the most ohhhhs and ahhhhs from the audience. ARC has provided shows for both Ballwin and Manchester. Both municipalities have given ARC rave reviews and plan to continue using the company as their fireworks provider.
As in the past, there is no public parking at White Birch Park, with the exception of a limited number of handicapped accessible spots. Other parking areas include the following: Armstrong Elementary School; Hazelwood West High School; Howdershell Park; and the Knights of Columbus. Shuttle bus service will be provided for Armstrong Elementary School and Hazelwood West, starting at 7 p.m. Those who park their vehicles at Howdershell Park and Knights of Columbus can walk to the park.
To ensure the walking safety of all citizens, the City of Hazelwood will be restricting parking on streets which surround White Birch Park. This will allow for safe arrival and departure of pedestrians from the park. The following streets will have signs posted saying, “NO PARKING FROM 6 PM TO 11 PM,” on July 4th: Altavia Dr; Chula Dr.; Monte Dr.; Christina Marie Lane; Christine Marie Court; Woodcrest Lane; Nathaniel Court; Amanda Lynn Dr.; Freeland Dr.; and Teson Road.
In the event rain postpones the fireworks on July 4th, plans are to reschedule for July 5th. For more information, call the Parks & Recreation Office at (314) 731-0980.
