To promote the creative talents of artists in the St. Louis area, the Hazelwood Community Enrichment Commission will be hosting its 16th Annual Community Art Fair on Sat., June 1. The event will be held at the Hazelwood Community Center, located at 1186 Teson Road in White Birch Park, from 10 am to 2 pm.
Local artists, age 16 and over, are urged to enter paintings and drawings they’ve done in oil, watercolor, acrylic, charcoal, pastels, pencil or mixed media. No sculptures, photos or computer generated items accepted.
Participants can enter up to 6 pieces of art. Each art piece must be displayed on an easel and be appropriate for public viewing. Artists are asked to bring any easels they can along to the show, especially if they are showing a piece that requires a larger easel. They may sell their art pieces if the opportunity arises.
All entries will be professionally judged in four categories: Landscape/Still Life; Real Life; Fantasy/Science Fiction; and Abstract/Non-Objective. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top finishers of each category. FREE admission offered to the public to view artwork on June 1.
Entry applications are currently available at Civic Center East and the Hazelwood Community Center. Advanced registration is preferred but entries will be accepted on the morning of the fair.
