In response to community concerns about possible health issues related to the Bridgeton-West Lake Landfill, the St. Louis County Department of Public Health (DPH) will be conducting a health survey to assess respiratory health issues of St. Louis County residents to identify health needs that can be addressed. Households are being randomly selected to participate in the survey. Interviews for the survey will be conducted in-person.
Interviewers will be in Hazelwood neighborhoods on the following days:
Mon., Feb. 22, 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Tues., Feb. 23, 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Wed., Feb. 24, 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Thurs., Feb. 25, 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Fri., Feb. 26, 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Sat., Feb. 27, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Please be aware that DPH staff members may be walking and driving through your neighborhood during these designated time periods. ONLY households that are randomly selected will be interviewed for the survey. The interviewers will be wearing official blue vests from the St. Louis County DPH and carrying proper credentials. They will be knocking on doors, asking residents if they are interested in participating in the survey.
As a safety precaution, residents should ask to see the interviewers’ St. Louis County ID badge before allowing them into the house. Keep in mind that residents are not required to allow any surveyor into their home. They can choose to do so if they want. (Unfortunately, there are people out there who try to prey on homeowners in reference to fraudulent home remodeling programs, tax scams, identity theft and other unscrupulous activities. Just a reminder to be careful when someone comes to your door.)
If you agree to participate, the survey will take approximately 15 minutes to complete. Again, only households that are randomly selected will be able to participate in the survey.
If you have questions about the survey, please contact the St. Louis County Department of Public Health at (314) 615-0600 or at Westlake-Bridgeton.email@example.com.
