Record Number of Local Artists Participate in Hazelwood’s Community Art Fair

The City of Hazelwood’s Community Enrichment Commission (CEC) broke a record by having 43 artists participate in the 15th Annual Community Art Fair held this past Saturday at the Hazelwood Community Center from 10 am to 2 pm.  The previous record of 35 participants was achieved at last year’s event.  Despite a brief rain shower, a steady flow of people came to view the artists’ talent during the entire time.

We received this positive comment from one of our residents, Ms. Jimmie Boyd, about the event on Facebook.  She said, “It really excited me to see so many of our young artists participate this year.  Congrats to all who put forth the effort to be a part of this outstanding event.”

For this year’s event, the CEC asked two professional art teachers to be the judges to review all the entries and select the top finishers for the following art categories: Portraits/Real Life; Still Life/Landscape; Fantasy/Science Fiction; and Abstract/Non-Objective.  Ms. Amelia Galbreath and Dave Reeb accepted our invitations to be the judges.  Galbreath has been an art teacher at the Hazelwood West High School for over 14 years.  Reeb is an art teacher for a middle school in the Fort Zumwalt School District in St. Charles County.
