Hazelwood Carries on Tradition of Financial Report Excellence – GFOA Award

GFOAAwardPresentation-smThis is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by the City of Hazelwood’s management staff and its Finance Department.

The 2010-2011 CAFR prepared by Hazelwood’s Finance Department has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, including the demonstration of a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” that clearly communicates the City’s financial story and motivates potential users and user groups to read it. This document is posted on Hazelwood’s official website and can be viewed by the public at http://www.hazelwoodmo.org/index.php/city-government/departments/finance.html.

“Most of the credit for this impressive track record of success goes to my predecessor, Donnie Burns, and the Finance staff,” said Lori Helle, Director of Finance. “I feel fortunate to be able to carry on this tradition of excellence with a top notch Finance staff that does most of the number crunching and budget transactions with amazing accuracy.”

The GFOA is a nonprofit professional organization serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago, Ill., and Washington, D.C.
