During the enforcement effort, officers issued more than 116 traffic citations including: 53 seat belt tickets; 3 child restraint seat tickets; 31 speeding tickets; 29 other moving traffic violations, as well as other non-moving violation tickets.
Despite evidence proving the benefits of wearing a seat belt, nearly one in four Missouri motorists are still not making it click. Seven out of ten Missourians killed in traffic accidents were unbuckled.
“A seat belt is the best protection for a driver and all other vehicle occupants in a crash,” stated Gregg Hall, Chief of Police. “We will continue to encourage drivers to make a simple, smart choice to buckle up and Arrive Alive.”
