Ross Dress for Less Opens in Hazelwood

HSDElementaryBand2-smThe Hazelwood School District’s Elementary Advanced Band, under the direction of William Volk, revved up the early morning crowd with stunning renditions of “Wipe Out,” “Eye of the Tiger,” “We Will Rock You,” “Let’s Go Band,” and “School Spirit.”  One of the Ross Dress for Less officials mentioned that when he first heard them play he thought they were a pretty good high school band.  But when he realized they were only 5th graders, he was amazed how well they sounded.  As a gesture of their appreciation for the band performing at the grand opening, Ross Dress for Less presented the band with a check for $1,000.

An acapella choir from Hazelwood West High School then put on a dazzling performance for the crowd.  The choir director, Tim Arnold, told the audience they were scheduled to compete in an International Acapella Choir competition at Webster University that evening.  Ross Dress for Less officials also presented the choir with a $1,000 donation for their participation in the grand opening event.

When it came time to do the ribbon-cutting, Mayor Pro Tempe Carol Stroker, representing Ward 1 residents, and Ward 2 Councilman Bob Aubuchon joined St. Louis Outlet Mall general manager David Reed and several Ross Dress for Less officials in performing this ceremonial task for photo opportunities.  Then company officials opened the store for a big crowd waiting to go in and see the new merchandise.  Ross tote bags were given away to everyone walking into the store and attendance prizes were awarded throughout the day.HWHSShowChoir-sm
