The event was held on October 31, 2009, in conjunction with the school’s annual Fall Festival.
Volkswagen donated $50 to Russell Elementary, which was designated for expenses involved in hosting the event, as well as an additional $5 for each test drive completed with a product questionnaire. VW Routan minivans and other VW family vehicles were provided for parents and friends to test drive and evaluate. Bommarito Volkswagen of Hazelwood supplied the vehicles and volunteers from the dealership were on hand to assist with the fundraising activity.
“The VW School Fundraisers are a mutually beneficial program and we thoroughly enjoy our involvement,” said Jerry Eickel, president of Bommarito Volkswagen of Hazelwood. “We are happy to support our local schools, and enjoy demonstrating a great product. Not only are parents genuinely interested in learning about the new Routan minivans, but also they appreciate our help in raising extra money to support the school and their children during these challenging times. We feel this is a win-win situation for everyone! We all had a great time and look forward to maintaining a long-term community partnership.”
Volkswagen and Bommarito VW of Hazelwood have a special interest in youth and education.
