Hazelwood City Council Members Recognized for Years of Public Service

Ward 2 Councilman Bob Aubuchon was honored for his 15 years of public service and Ward 7 Councilwoman Ro Hendon was congratulated for her five years of public service.  Mayor Matthew Robinson presented them with a beautiful service pin to commemorate the occasion.

Aubuchon was elected as Councilman of Ward 2 on April 1, 1997, to fill an unexpired term. He was subsequently elected to three-year terms on the City Council in 1999, 2002, 2005, 2008, and 2011.  Aubuchon is known for using a hands-on approach to dealing with concerns and issues within his ward. He has earned the admiration of his constituents as well as the respect of his fellow public servants.

Over the past 15 years, Aubuchon has actively participated in the St. Louis County and state of Missouri Municipal League.  In addition, he is a member of the National League of Cities. From 2009-2012, he served on the Board of Directors for the Northwest Chamber of Commerce and received the 2010 Volunteer of the Year Award from this organization. Aubuchon also has been appointed to the North Central Fire Alarm Board of Directors, serving in this capacity since 2009.

Aubuchon is a retired firefighter/paramedic for the Pattonville Fire Protection District. He currently serves as president of the Pattonville Retirees Association and on the Board of Directors for the Local 2665 Retirees Association. He also volunteers his time at an area Elks Lodge where he was presented with the “Elk of the Year” award from Lodge 2316.

Hendon was elected as Councilwoman of Ward 7 on April 3, 2007. She won re-election for another three-year term on April 6, 2010. Hendon is an active member of the St. Louis County Municipal League, Missouri Municipal League, and the National League of Cities.

Through the performance of her duties and responsibilities as a member of the City Council, Hendon has made excellent and constructive contributions to Hazelwood’s municipal government. She has worked tirelessly to help improve the City’s beautification and economic development efforts. She meets with her constituents on such issues as the levy in the Missouri Bottoms area, Neighborhood Watch groups, and actively participates in Hazelwood’s Celebrate Safe Communities program. Additionally, Hendon takes the concerns of her constituents very seriously and has always responded with a goal of finding a satisfactory resolution. In her interactions with other Council members, she is diplomatic and respectful of other people’s opinions.
