St. Louis County SAVE Program Offers Help to Local Homeowners

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then you as a Hazelwood homeowner should take advantage of the St. Louis County SAVES™ program.

In May 2011, St. Louis County launched a $10.4 million program for energy efficiency loans for local residents. So far, the program has closed over $1.3 million in loans. Plenty of money is still available over the next two years. Not only does this help qualified homeowners save money, improve their property value and increase energy efficiency, but it boosts the County’s economy by creating jobs for skilled workers in our area.

“Homeowners can see immediate improvements to their homes that payback quickly in terms of better health, greater comfort, and lower energy bills,” said Anne Klein, director of sustainability for St. Louis County.

St. Louis County SAVES™ leads the nation in leveraging private investment through Qualified Energy Conservation Bonds (QECB’s) that provide low interest rates for green community programs.  Loans to homeowners require a minimum credit score of 660, range from $2,500 to $15,000, and have up to a 10-year payback plan at a rock bottom interest rate of 3.5 percent.
