Winter Storm Alert, November 15

As you all might already be aware, the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the St. Louis area from 6 pm this evening until 6 pm Thursday.  Heavy snow is expected with total accumulations of 5 to 7 inches with higher amounts possible.  Plan for slippery road conditions as rapid accumulations will make commutes extremely difficult, if not impossible.  If travel is necessary, make sure to exercise extreme caution.

Begin your travel with a full tank of gas and bring with you a winter storm kit which includes a shovel, flashlight, cell phone, food, water and blankets.

That being said, we would also like to advise our residents to be aware of snow routes and to have your vehicle removed from the roadway prior to this evening to allow for city snow crews to clear the streets and to make way for police/fire emergency vehicles.  Information about the City’s snow routes are attached here.   Any vehicle parked on a snow route is subject to ticketing and towing from the area to allow access to snow crews and emergency vehicles.  Hazelwood ordinances are as follows:

Section 397.040

Parking Prohibited On Snow Emergency Routes During Snow Emergencies

[Ord. No. 3123-99 §1, 11-17-1999]

A. While the snow emergency is in effect, no person shall park, or allow to remain parked, any vehicle on any portion of a snow emergency route to which the emergency applies.  However, nothing in this Section shall be construed to permit parking at any time or place where it is forbidden by any other provisions of law.

B. Any Police, Fire, Ambulance,  Civil Defense, Water, Sewer, Refuse Collector, Parks or Street Department vehicles making emergency calls and repairs are exempted from the provisions of this Section.

BE SAFE AND STAY WARM!
