The Hazelwood Fire Department Emergency Management team was awarded a grant to purchase an all-hazards weather alerting radio, which includes the batteries, a pillow shaker, and a strobe light to help alert the hearing impaired of impending severe weather at night.
Emergency management is more than just managing a disaster, it focuses on planning, and prevention as well. By achieving this grant from SEMA (State Emergency Management Agency), we can help reduce the risk of injury and death during severe weather by providing the all-hazards weather alerting radio, a pillow shaker, and a strobe device to the hearing impaired.
Who is eligible for the device?
- You must be a resident of the City of Hazelwood and
- You or your loved one is hearing impaired
How to get your free all-hazards weather alerting radio?
Call the Hazelwood Fire Department at 314-731-3424 and ask for Battalion Chief Gerard Hagedorn or by emailing Battalion Chief Hagedorn at glhagedorn@hazelwoodmo.org. Please include the following informaiton:

Battalion Chief Hagedorn will schedule a time during business hours M-F 8am-4:00 pm and he will come to your residence and get you all set up.
